Baked French Toast ... s'il vous plaît!

This is the French Toast my sister-in-law served at a bridal shower brunch a few weeks ago. I love that you can prepare it the night before and simply pop it in the oven the next morning.
Creme Brule French Toast
The Ingredients.
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 Tbs. corn syrup
1 loaf Hawaiian bread, crust removed and sliced 1 1/2 inch thick
5 eggs
1 1/2 cups half and half or cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
The Directions.

Grease pan generously with butter.
In a saucepan melt butter, brown sugar and corn syrup. Simmer until sugar is dissolved. Pour into cake pan.
Arrange bread in pan.
Mix remaining ingredients, pour over bread and cover.
Refrigerate overnight.
Bake at 350 for 40 min.
Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup.
The Verdict.
This isn’t your everyday French toast. It tastes rich and decadent, almost like dessert. Be sure to use good bread — plain ol’ supermarket bread will not give you the same delicious results as bakery-quality bread.
