And the winner is ...

I turned on my TV before I was even out of bed this morning, to see who had won the governor's race here in Minnesota. It seems Democrat Mark Dayton currently has a razor-thin margin over Republican Tom Emmer. With the race so close, I was told, a recount seems likely. But then I listened more closely. Something was missing. I think I heard birds singing. It was like a breath of fresh air blowing through the bedroom. What was different today? Wait ... I think I've got it! It's the absence of political ads. The constant barrage of heavy-handed, blunt, incendiary campaign messages we've been bombarded with for months is gone. No more "I approve this message" messages. Both sides have been equally guilty in providing us with trite, banal, overworked, stale commercial endorsements. But now, for just this one short moment in time ... peace and quiet are the winners!
