Meatless Monday: Grilled Cheese for Big Kids

Pears, cheese, and a good hearty bread! Ooey, gooey goodness!
The Ingredients.
1 ripe pear, sliced (apples work well, too)
2 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, sliced (use 4 oz. for extra cheesy sandwiches) (I used mozzarella when I ran out of cheddar)
1 tbsp. butter, softened
4 slices hearty bread (I used 12 Grain)
The Directions.
Heat skillet on medium-high heat. Butter two slices of bread, on one side only; place buttered side down onto the skillet. Top bread with pear slices and cheese--put a little cheese on the bread first, then the pears, then the remaining cheese. Butter remaining bread slices and place them on top of the sandwiches, butter side up.
Cook until bottom of sandwich is browned, 3-5 minutes. Flip over and cook 3-5 minutes more.
The Verdict.
You can't see the pears in my photo, but they're in there! I think they add a delicious sweetness and a nice texture to ordinary grilled cheese. The perfect sandwich to serve with Red Pepper soup from Trader Joe's.
