Fancy!

A really nice touch for a luncheon, dinner party or buffet is to make pretty butter pats. They are easy and can be made ahead and kept refrigerated.

Butter Pats
The Ingredients.

1 stick of salted, sweet cream REAL butter NOT margarine!
Fresh herbs like parsley or thyme
The Directions.
Let a stick of butter warm up a bit, so it can be sliced easily. Cut uniform pats and add a small piece of parsley, thyme, or whatever you have available, right in the middle of the pat. And voila! You have fancy butter! I suggest 2-3 pats of butter per guest, depending on the size of the rolls.
The Verdict.
Just so you know, I don't make trimmed butter pats very often, but I wanted to go all out for my mom's party. She used to do things like this, back in her day, and I wanted her to know I still remember. I think she was touched and they looked very festive!

  1. Super cute! when i go to a nice restaurant, i secretly judge them by their butter - if it's softened a little bit (not super cold/hard as a rock), it's a sign they pay attn to the little details...
