We've got a winner here ...
These tasty little ham and Swiss sandwiches are awesome! I served them on Christmas Day and they were a huge hit. Plan on making a double batch because they'll disappear in a flash! Even the guys will ask for the recipe. They make a killer appetizer (think Super Bowl Sunday), and better yet, you can make them a day or two ahead. Feel free to experiment using your favorite meat and cheese combinations. I didn't add the poppy seeds because I didn't have any. You could also add grated onion to the marinade. I think it would be delicious to serve with horseradish on the side for dipping!
HOT HAM SANDWICH APPETIZERS
2 Doz. silver dollar buns
48 slices ham
24 half slices Swiss cheese
1 cup butter (not margarine)
1 Tbs. Worcestershire
2 Tbs. poppy seeds (optional)
2 Tbs. yellow mustard
4 Tbs brown sugar
Place 2 slices of ham and 1/2 slice cheese on each bun. Mix all other ingredients and pour mixture over closed sandwiches. Refrigerate overnight. Cook (covered) at 325 degrees for 25 minutes (until bubbling). Uncover and cook for 5 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.
