"However many years she lived, Mary always felt that 'she should never forget that first morning when her garden began to grow'."
~Frances Hodgson Burnett (The Secret Garden)
Bleeding Heart (Dicentra Spectabilis)
Bleeding hearts, with lovely arching foliage and drooping, heart-shaped flowers. The common name comes from the unique shape of the flowers; they look like hearts with tiny drops at the tips. This shot is from one of my gardens, taken last year. Because spring is so late here, the Bleeding Heart isn't blooming yet.
