Summer Caravan
Like wild gypsy dancers,
the daylilies unfurl
bright orange petals,
trail gaudy skirts along
summer hot sidewalks,
sprawl over tidy lawns,
camp beside shady hedges,
sway back and forth,
a whirling tarantella
in the late afternoon sun.

There are literally thousands of these spectacular flowers blooming in every corner of the city; every yard, alley and vacant lot is a jumble of dazzling color!
